2025 Season Recap
With the Trupial Classic now in the rear view mirror, AV Cheetah has wrapped up the 2025 season. It has been a rollercoaster ride of a season, with Cheetah athletes going through the grind of practice sessions and the highs and lows of competing in 8 local meets. This year saw several young athletes make their debut with the team (and athletics in general); or in a new age group; and a few even having the chance to represent Curacao in international events!
All our athletes made and followed through on the commitment to attending and working hard in practice. This is of course a ‘must’, but we recognize and commend the athletes for their DEDICATION!
So, it was amazing to see the progression of the athletes throughout the season. They grew stronger physically and mentally, and it showed in their performances in the stadium. The proof is in the countless medals that were won, but even more so in the steady improvements in time, distance and height that the athletes registered month-to-month – constant Personal Bests (PBs)!!! It’s not always in the cards to win a medal, but when an athlete sees PBs after a meet, they know that the hard work paid off. At AV Cheetah, this means just as much as podium celebrations!
In 2025 Cheetah athletes registered more than 120 Personal Bests over the 7 CAB meets. We saw meets where athletes got 6 PBs out of the 7 events (Quiny), and meets where athletes got 4 PBs (Rishona, Anhaïs, Amir) – impressive and inspiring!
Some highlights throughout the year:
U-13G domination
Our U-13 Girls members – Ju-an, Ny-an, Farexy & Anhaïs – were forces to be reckoned with from the very start of the year. Once they found their groove, they were a constant presence on the awards podium. They finished at least 2 of top 3 overall (Combined Events) in EVERY meet in 2025 – and swept the gold-silver-bronze in 2 straight, April & May! Further, they finish with 70 total medals between them for the year. Powerhouses!
Joedon 60m streak – and consistent podium
One of our youngest members, Joedon – in his first year in athletics – quickly found his stride and started racking up medals from early on. He finished the year having won 5 straight 60m races, and won gold or silver for Combined Events in the U-9 Boys group, in the last 3 meets. And all with a smile on his face. Future looks bright!

International success
2025 saw several Cheetah athletes have the honor of representing Curacao on the international athletics stage.
In early April the Interinsular games took place on Bonaire, and Anhaïs and the Carolina sisters Ju-an and Ny-an were part of the athletics delegation. Competing against athletes from Aruba and Bonaire, they all managed top combined medals, and were a big part of a Curacao team gold-medal win!
The NACAC U13/U15 Age Group Championship in July saw Anhaïs and Ny-an as part of the Curacao delegation compete against athletes from all over the Caribbean and Central America, and more than hold their own! They came home with amazing memories and international competition experience – along with 4 medals between them! They truly made us proud!
Relay Teamwork!
There were a few meets in 2025 that offered the athletes to race relays, and to come together as a team to battle! In both occasions – in the Eagles Invitational and the Trupial Classic – the Cheetah teams gelled right on time and impressed. Team-building and thrilling for the spectators, it never disappoints!
On to 2026!
Now it’s time to rest a bit, recuperate and then energize – then get back in gear to prepare for next season. There is a mini-meet in December which is a chance for the team to get good numbers on the board and set sights on the first meet of 2026. Onward & upward Cheetahs!
