EVENT REPORT

Curaçao Atletiek Bond Meet III “The Eagles Invitational” – organized by the local track & field team The Eagles – took place on March 8th & 9th, at Sentro Deportivo Korsou (SDK) in Curaçao.

Once again, the Cheetah team was in full flight, represented by:

  • Abigahil (U-20 Women)
  • Abraham (U-17 Boys)
  • Daniel (U-15 Boys)
  • Zoe (U-15 Girls)
  • Christopher (U-13 Boys)
  • Lishantely (U-13 Girls)
  • Ju-An (U-13 Girls)
  • Ny-An (U-11 Girls)
  • Anhais (U-11 Girls)
  • Maya (U-9 Girls)
  • Matthew (U-9 Boys)

The team’s hard work leading up to the event – just 3 weeks after the previous meet – led to great results again! The athletes took home a total of 21 medals: 4 overall medals and 17 medals across all events. This included a gold & a silver in U-11 & U-13 mixed relay teams, the first relays of the season! Furthermore, the Cheetah team is continuously improving, as reflected by the 19 PBs (personal bests) achieved over the 2 days of the meet. So much to be proud of, and further motivation to continue to improve ahead of next month’s meet!

A few highlights:

Abigahil again finished 1st in the shot put event in the U-20 W category, achieving a Personal Best.

Abraham gained a bronze medal in the U-17 boys 200m race, while setting a Personal Best.

Daniel set 2 new PBs in the U-15 boys long jump and shot put events.

Zoe achieved 3 further PBs in the U-15 girls ball throw, 1000m and 80m hurdles events.

Lishantely achieved a Personal Best in both the U-13 girls 800 meters race and the ball throw event.

Ny-An continued her streak of 1st place overall finishes in the U-11 girls category, by gathering three gold medals, and one silver medal – along with 3 PBs – across the events. Her 1881 combined points over her 4 events are the most ever scored in the U-11 girls category – a new national record!

Anhaïs earned 5 bronze medals in the U-11 girls category: one overall medal with 4 medals across the events – in all 4 she registered a PB.

Matthew placed 3rd overall in the U-9 boys group, having earned a gold medal in the 60m race and 2 further Bronze medals.

Maya earned a silver overall medal in the U-9 girls group, with top-3 finishes in 3 of her 4 events, and a PB in the long jump event.
