The official season finale “Trupial Classic” – sponsored by the Curacao Trupial Athletics Club – took place on July12-13, at Sentro Deportivo Korsou (SDK) in Curaçao. It was an exciting and highly competitive meet, especially with the added ingredient of teams from abroad – Puerto Rico, Suriname, Bonaire and Aruba – taking part.

The Cheetah athletes earned a total of 13 medals: 5 gold, 5 silver and 3 bronze!
A few highlights:
Zoe earned a silver medal in the U-15 girls ball throw event, and achieved a Personal Best in the long jump!
Brevon completed his first 800m race, and finished 6th in a tough field.
Ju-An scored a dominant gold medal in the U-13 girls 800m event. She added progressive PBs in both the heat and the final of the 80m race, where she finished 5th.
Christopher kicked off the U-13 mixed 4x100m relay team’s effort with a great start, igniting the effort that ended up in a silver medal!
Queeny also was a crucial part of the U-13 mixed 4x100m relay team, helping to push the team to a silver medal via a strong 2nd leg.
Ny-An earned 2 gold medals, in the U-11 girls 60m & 400m races, and added a silver in the long jump. She dominated the 400m field and edged a hotly competitive 60m race – well-done Ny-An!
Anhaïs earned a gold medal in the U-11 long jump, a silver medal in the ball throw, and a bronze in the 60m. She also was part of the silver-medal winning Cheetah team in the U-13 mixed 4x100m relay team, running the 3rd leg.
Matthew was the anchorman for the silver-medal winning Cheetah team in the U-13 mixed 4x100m relay team, and also earned gold and bronze medals in the U-9 boys long jump and 60m events, respectively.
Maya earned her 2nd consecutive silver medal in the U-9 girls ball throw, and added a bronze medal in a tough 60m field.
Kudos to the Cheetah athletes – not just for this latest event, but for a season filled with a lot of hard work, progress and success! Amazing for parents and supporters to witness the growth and joy throughout – now for a deserved break and then back to “work”!
