With pride in our hearts we once again had Cheetah athletes representing Curacao on the international stage, this time at the NACAC Age Group Championships in Managua, Nicaragua, July 7-8 2025. This event is held every 2 years, and has athletes participating from over 20 countries across the Caribbean and Americas, including Jamaica, Bahamas, Barbados, Nicaragua, Cuba, etc. – in short, a major event for young athletes in the region.
Our Cheetah cub Anhaïs Ahrendt was on hand to compete in the U-13 Girls category, and she performed very well, especially considering she was one of the youngest competitors at 10 years old (competing often with athletes over a year older than her). Anhaïs managed to snag two ‘bronze’ medals, finishing 4th in the Ball Throw and 7th in the Long Jump – out of a field of 30 athletes! Her 2nd long jump of 4.41m also was a personal best – she’s a big game jumper!
All-in-all, a great performance but more importanly a precious experience in such a large-scale, heavily competitive event. Well done Anhaïs, and we’re looking forward to more international success in the future!
