Trupial Classic 2026

The Trupial Classic is the largest event of the Cheetahs’ season, drawing teams from across the Caribbean and beyond. This year’s edition brought competitors from Jamaica, Puerto Rico, Suriname, Sint Maarten, Aruba, Bonaire, and Dominica — a truly international meet right here on home soil.

Event Report

Held Friday 10 – Saturday 11 July at Stadio, the meet saw Daniël van den Hurk, Joëden La Cruz, Farexy Browne, Elisha Groetelaers, Anhais Ahrendt, and Kisheina Johnson-Zimmerman compete across sprints, jumps, throws, and relays.

Highlights:

• Gold – Daniël van den Hurk, U17 Boys Long Jump (6.05m)
• Gold – Anhais Ahrendt, U13 Girls Long Jump (4.47m)
• Silver – Joëden La Cruz, U11 Boys Ball Throw (37.98m, PB)
• Bronze – Joëden La Cruz, U11 Boys Long Jump (3.60m, PB)
• Bronze – Anhais Ahrendt, U13 Girls Ball Throw (48.66m)
• Anhais also helped two mixed-club relay teams to medals: gold in the U13 Swedish Relay and bronze in the U15 4x100m

A strong close to the reported stretch of the season — made even sweeter by competing against the region’s best.
