2026 Season Recap
With six meets now behind us — from the Season Opener in January through the Trupial Classic in July — it’s been a season that lived up to the Cheetah motto: practice and perseverance lead to perfection. Our athletes kept showing up, kept working, and the results showed it. Medal counts climbed meet over meet, personal bests piled up, and the club’s youngest and newest athletes grew alongside its most experienced.
By the numbers
Across the five fully-reviewed meets (January–May), Cheetah athletes brought home 24 gold, 27 silver, and 15 bronze medals — 66 in total. Add in July’s Trupial Classic and the season total climbs even higher, though that count is still pending a final review (more below).
Anhais Ahrendt’s breakout season
If there’s one storyline that defined 2026, it’s Anhais Ahrendt. She medaled in nearly every event she entered, all season long — but May’s MCB Curaçao Championships was something else entirely: gold in all five of her individual events, every one a personal best, plus gold in the U13 Girls Combined Events with 2696 points. That score moved her into the Top 3 all-time in Curaçao for U13 Girls combined-events scoring. She backed it up in April with a 5-medal day at the Classic of Wendell Prince, three of them PBs. A truly special year for one of the club’s youngest standouts.
Consistency across the board
- Daniël van den Hurk chased his 200m and long jump marks down all year, logging PBs at three separate meets and closing with a gold-medal long jump (6.05m) at the Trupial Classic.
- Farexy Browne was a fixture on the combined-events podium and added an individual Shot Put gold at the Classic of Wendell Prince.
- Anhaïs Ahrendt’s MCB Curaçao Championships May was the season’s standard: gold medal & PBs in all five of her individual events, plus gold in the U13 Girls Combined Events with 2696 points. That score moved her into the Top 3 all-time in Curaçao for U13 Girls combined-events points.
- Joëden La Cruz, one of the team’s youngest members, quietly stacked up PBs in the 60m, 800m, ball throw, and long jump across the season — proof that steady progress matters just as much as medals.
- Brevon Ahrendt and Elisha Groetelaers each turned in gold-medal 800m and 400m performances at the Eagles Invitational and MCB Championships.
Looking ahead
Six meets, tons of medals, and a season full of personal bests — this group has embodied exactly what Cheetah Athletics is about: building the discipline and dedication that turns hard work into results. Onward, Cheetahs!
